Unconscious bias occurs when our brains quickly make a judgement, jump to conclusions and make assumptions without us consciously realising that we are doing so. We make these assumptions based on a variety of factors including our lived personal experiences, our upbringing, and family and social influences.
The purpose of this program is to raise awareness of unconscious bias and its impact on decision making in the workplace. In this program participants will learn about unconscious bias and the brain. They will participate in activities to bring to awareness of their own unconscious biases to the fore in a positive and constructive way, using experiential learning techniques to respectfully challenge traditional mindsets. Participants will also learn a set of simple techniques to manage their biases more effectively inside and outside of the workplace.
